Scams

Get Rich Quick Schemes

By: Joe Simpson

The internet is full of them – adverts promising untold wealth, exotic holidays and fast cars which all currently being enjoyed by the author of the advert. All will tantalize you with a few details but many promises of your life after you buy their particular method. The adverts all look rather similar – one very long page with one or all of the following:

1. Testimonials - usually a short and over the top thanks you ….I’m now making xxx a minute, you’ve changed my life, I can’t believe its so easy etc etc. The people will nearly always say “I was at first skeptical” then tell you how much money they are now making thanks to the method.

2. Pictures - pictures of fast cars, exotic locations anything that symbolizes wealth.

3. Scams - usually of paypal receipts, merchant accounts, bank statements – anything which shows lots of large deposits.

4. Lots of reassurances about ‘the method’ usually along the lines of its so easy anyone can do it!

5. Lots of derogatory comments about all other ‘get rich’ schemes on the internet.

6. Bonuses -  for only the next few people, or if you sign up today. The bonuses will always provide even more sure fire ways to make loads of money.

7. Psychological warfare - lots of this!  Some will be aggressive, even insulting – a common reverse psychological ploy with these methods. Anything to spur you into buying out of anger, curiosity, desperation.

8. A sob story - usually about the author.  Who was probably nearly bankrupt, depressed and everything going wrong in their life until they discovered ‘the method’.

9. A money back guarantee - to ensure there is absolutely no risk and you can’t possibly fail to be wealthy!

This list could be much longer, but there are other regular parts to these formulas.  They are designed very carefully to build up to the purchase – usually after many pages of text building up the ‘Buy now’ button.  They all follow the same rough outline because it works – mainly because the reader really does want to believe that the advert is true.  Imagine I tell you that if you pay me $100 in return I tell you a way for you to become fabulously wealthy without any real work.  You’d want to believe it – you could give up the job you hate, relax and enjoy a wonderful lifestyle all for $100.  The irony is,  I’ve probably already given you a clue – yes to become fabulously wealthy you just need to sell ‘get rich quick schemes’!!!

Most of these schemes are just outright scams, many have little grains of truth and useful pieces of information (although are all available free from other sources).

Here, the reverse psychology comes in again as many schemes will ask the same question and attempt to answer it – usually along these sort of lines.

1. They just want share their good fortune.

2. There is plenty to go round so why not.

3. They have already made so much money from the method it doesn’t matter.

There is no logic whatsoever in any of these answers – a loophole or a niche method for making money may work for a small number of people but the more people who do it the less profitable it becomes.

The simple answer is the actual selling of the secret method is far more profitable than the method itself.  That’s the ultimate irony – the money making method is right in front of you – the advert promising wealth – the only problem is when you press ‘buy’ you are supplying the money.

I hope someone stumbling upon this document might think twice before falling for one of these.
